Local and Regional Councillor Mario Racco
Local and Regional Councillor Mario G. Racco sits on Vaughan Council and York Region Council as well as numerous boards, committees and task forces.
As a Local and Regional Councillor, he represents citizens at the municipal and regional levels. Locally, he makes decisions at Vaughan Council and considers matters that impact all residents. As a Regional Councillor, he sits on York Region Council and participates on boards, committees and task forces to set policies, directions and budgets at the regional level.
Mario G. Racco has served the people of Vaughan for over 40 years – as an MPP, City Councillor and Ratepayers Association President.
As Founder and Chair of the Board of the Spadina-York Subway Extension, Mario spearheaded the subway extension into the city of Vaughan and York Region – one of many contributions he has made to enhancing Vaughan as a wonderful place to live, work and raise a family.
Mario and his wife Sandra have raised their two children in Vaughan and continue to actively support the community through programs like the Vaughan International Music Festival, We are One – Canada, Philippine Heritage Band Vaughan and other events, which keep the city vibrant and prosperous.

Vaughan’s boundaries are Highway 50 to the west, King-Vaughan Road to the north, Steeles Avenue to the south and Yonge Street to the east. York Region is made up of nine municipalities: Aurora, East Gwillimbury, Georgina, King, Markham, Newmarket, Richmond Hill, Vaughan and Whitchurch-Stouffville.
