The City of Vaughan manages the curbside collection of organics, recycling, garbage, leaf and yard waste, and appliance and large metal items. These items are all picked up by the City’s contractor, Miller Waste Systems.

The City’s current 10-year waste collection contract is nearing its end, so we’re actively preparing for the next one, taking effect in 2028 – and we want to hear from you!

Do you have opinions on automated waste collection? What about a clear bag garbage program? Let us know by visiting our booth on any of the following dates:

You can also read our comprehensive participation guide (PDF), which includes insights into the waste collection contract's significance, information about key topics and issues that are open for discussion, an outline of the consultation timeline and more. This guide was created to ensure you, a valued member of the community, have all the background information and tools you need to meaningfully engage and contribute to the conversation.

In 2023, there were many other ways residents got involved and had their say, including:

  • answering a telephone survey
  • completing an online survey
  • joining a focus group
  • visiting an open house

Thank you to all who participated.

The City is committed to delivering Service Excellence, ensuring residents continue to enjoy a high quality of life with waste collection services that are second to none.
